1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how CalcsVault (calcsvault.com) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website. We are committed to transparency. CalcsVault does not require account creation or registration to use any calculator. All calculator computations run entirely in your browser — your numeric inputs (loan amounts, weights, dates, etc.) are never sent to our servers.
2. Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure and third-party partners may automatically collect technical information including: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, pages visited and time on site, referring URL, and general geographic location (country or city level only). This information is used for security, analytics, and delivering advertisements. It is not used to personally identify you.
3. Location Data
Prayer Times and Qibla Finder may request your precise location via the browser Geolocation API. This is always optional — you are never required to share your location. If you grant permission: your coordinates are sent directly from your browser to Aladhan API and OpenStreetMap Nominatim to return your requested result; CalcsVault does not receive, log, or store your location on any server; you can revoke this permission at any time in your browser or device settings.
4. Cookies and Browser Storage (localStorage)
CalcsVault does not set first-party tracking cookies. We use your browser's localStorage — a private storage area that lives only on your device — to remember several things locally: your colour theme preference (light or dark mode); Tasbih counter progress; and any star ratings or written reviews you submit on a calculator page or the Reviews page. None of this localStorage data is transmitted to CalcsVault's servers or to any third party — it stays on your device and is visible only in your own browser. Clearing your browser's site data or using a different browser/device will reset it. Third-party services (Google AdSense, Google Analytics) may separately set their own cookies — see sections 5 and 6.
5. Google AdSense and Advertising
CalcsVault uses Google AdSense to display advertisements, which is how we keep every calculator free with no paywalls or subscriptions. Google and its partners use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your interests and prior browsing activity across the web. To opt out of personalised advertising: visit adssettings.google.com, or visit the NAI opt-out page at optout.networkadvertising.org. For full details on how Google uses data from partner sites, visit policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. CalcsVault does not control the content of individual advertisements and is not responsible for products or services advertised by third parties on this site.
6. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use CalcsVault — which calculators are most popular, how people navigate the site, and where to improve. All analytics data is anonymised and aggregated; it cannot be used to identify an individual visitor. This data is used only to improve CalcsVault and is never sold. To opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites you visit, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
7. Third-Party APIs
To deliver specific features, your browser sends minimal, anonymous data directly to these third-party services (CalcsVault's own servers are not involved in these requests): Aladhan API (aladhan.com) — city name or coordinates, for Prayer Times and Hijri date conversion; OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) — coordinates, for reverse geocoding location names; open.er-api.com — anonymous requests for live currency exchange rates; TheSportsDB (thesportsdb.com) — anonymous requests for public football match schedules and scores shown on the Football page. We do not control and are not responsible for how these independent services handle data on their end. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
8. Star Ratings and Reviews
If you submit a star rating or written review — on a calculator page or on the dedicated Reviews page — the name you type and the text of your review are intentionally public and are designed to be displayed to other visitors. Please do not include your full legal name, email address, phone number, financial details, or other sensitive personal information in a review, since it will be visible to anyone who views that page. Reviews are stored using your browser's localStorage as described in Section 4; this is a lightweight mechanism appropriate for a feedback feature and is not a server-side account system. We do not require any login or email to leave a review.
9. User-Submitted Articles
If you submit an article via /articles/write, the title, category, summary, body text, and the name you enter as the author are sent to and stored on our servers (using Cloudflare KV storage) and published publicly on the Articles section for all visitors to see — this is different from other parts of the site, where nothing you type is sent to us. Do not include your full name, contact details, financial account information, or other sensitive personal data in an article or as your author name, since this content is public. Separately, your browser stores a small private record (the article's ID and a one-time edit token) in localStorage so you can find and delete your own articles later from the My Articles page; this record stays on your device and is only sent to our server if you choose to delete that article. If an article is removed for violating our content guidelines, the removal reason is shown to you on My Articles using this same local record. Publishing an article does not require creating an account, and we do not collect your email address or any login information.
10. Data Security
CalcsVault does not store personal calculator data on servers. All pages are served over HTTPS with TLS encryption. Our Cloudflare infrastructure provides DDoS protection and secure headers. While we take reasonable precautions, no internet transmission or storage system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children's Privacy
CalcsVault is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal data (for example, through an article submission or a public review), please contact us immediately and we will remove it.
12. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Since CalcsVault does not store personal calculator data on servers, and reviews/preferences live only in your own browser's localStorage, most such requests apply primarily to published articles. For any privacy concern, data request, or to request removal of a published article or review, contact us via the Contact page.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time as our features evolve — for example, when we add new calculators, APIs, or interactive features like reviews and the live scores tool. The Last Updated date reflects the latest revision. Continued use of CalcsVault after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
